attention span of a gnat

I am the master of starting projects and then letting them peter out in some stage of semi-completion.  Let’s tally recent efforts, shall we?

  • The great wardrobe cleanout of 2011?  about 3/4 done before I lost steam somewhere in pants and undies.  Only two categories left to have a fully completed project but somehow I can’t get it done.
  • The great furniture rearrangements of 2011?  about 1/2 done before I gave up.  Living room is basically settled but the library now has extra furniture because I need to clean out two bedrooms in order to make room for chairs that are currently cluttering up the library.  sigh…
  • Hanging art?  Well, the living room gallery wall is completed which is great.  I still have a boatload of art though that needs to find a home, but between rooms that aren’t ready for prime time and walls that take a hammer drill to hang a picture frame, my motivation on this one is slim to none right now.
  • The master bedroom makeover?  another 1/2 project.  I like the new bedding. I like the lamps I moved in from the living room.  The curtains are just not right but I’m not sure what would be better.  The piles of clothes from the almost there wardrobe project make further activity on this from futile.

The list goes on…

This element of my personality is one that torments my sister.  She possesses the enviable ability to focus on one project through completion before starting on the next.  When she is close by, she helps keep me on course, but right now she is thousands of miles away and it shows.  Today is our Columbus Day holiday, and I am determined to finish at least one of the projects on this list before the day is over.  Wardrobe Therapy- here I come!
